Our partners at BBEPP have successfully up-scaled different PROLIFIC protocols for proteins and polyphenols. Proteins were recovered from chickpeas and coffee green beans with aqueous or ultrasound-assisted extraction.
The yield and quality obtained in these technical trials were comparable to those at lab-scale. The extracts will now be further characterised for their activity and then used in prototype production.
Our next endeavour, end of this month, will be the extraction from green peas, to have available a bigger variety of proteins for enriched bread or vegan food products.
